1970年，为强迫军队听其发表的劝说军人恢复日本昔日荣誉和“纯洁”的讲话，日本右翼作家三岛由纪夫将真下将军扣留为人质。但他的讲话却遭到军人们的嘲笑，愤怒的三岛由纪夫回到屋中后剖腹自杀。影片以四个部分展现了三岛由纪夫的生平：（1）对真理和美女的看法；（2）艺术观点；（3）军事方面的活动；（4）剑和笔的统一。。粉碎“四人帮”，张思完重新工作后又旧地重游，告戒自己永远不能忘记人民的希望和重托。。The former star of a short-lived television sitcom, Fabien, drinks too much to remember everything he does and not much surprises him anymore.
