林婉儿从孤儿院被接回林家，却患上白血病，养女林青青为了维持自己的地位，骗家人得了白血病，其哥哥和母亲全都责怪林婉儿，不相信她得了白血病，这让林婉儿心灰意冷，决定捐献自己的遗体，用这样的方式告诉家人，到底是谁得了白血病！。"Daughters of the Dust" tells the story of a family of African-Americans who have lived for many years on a Southern offshore island, and of how they come together one day in 1902 to celebrate their ancestors before some of them leave for the North. The film is narrated by an unborn child, and ancestors already dead also seem to be as present as the living.。
