本片改编自推理小说家知念实希人的同名小说，背景设定在被铁栅栏封闭的原精神科医院，讲述在监狱里发生了监禁64名身份不明的住院患者和职员的事件，被牵连的速水(坂口饰)在医院内接连遇到不可思议的事情，并试图逃出的故事。。为了得到国王的赏赐和避免自家的农场遭到破坏，穷小子艾斯本（ ”Ash Lad” 或者Askeladen)和他的兄弟们开始了拯救被巨型山妖囚禁的公主之旅。 本片是挪威著名作家Asbjørnsen和Moe的经典代表作。。Joanna's holiday is shattered when her sisters tell her that their dad has dumped, he isn't responding to any calls and disappeared to a Caribbean island.
