Alex Freed is a literature professor. He has the gambling vice. When he has lost all his money, he borrows from his girlfriend, then his mother and finally some bad guys that chase his. Despite of all this he cannot stop gambling.。本片记录了芭蕾王子——英国皇家芭蕾舞团首席舞蹈家Sergei Polunin几近成名前的故事。影片跟随着Sergei的舞步从美国到英国再到乌克兰，带观众体验世界各国舞蹈的魅力。而影片更是展现了很多难得一见的幕后故事，和舞蹈家们人性的一面——他们虽然来自不同的文化和社会背景，但内心深处都同样充满细腻、热爱。。故事发生在上个世纪三十年代的上海，这个号称“东方巴黎”的中国东方大都市酝酿着重重危机，国民党与共产党十年内战的硝烟未散，日本军国主义的侵略魔爪却悄然而至。。
